PRAYER
An effort that is as mysterious as it is predictable. Prayer is perhaps the only moment in life we feel warranted to yell at God, to demand from God, and to frustratedly submit to God. Prayer is that magical union whereby desperate people cling to the promises we so often fight to really believe. It is that effort that transcends time and connects people today with Noah’s boat, Abraham’s son, and Moses’ land. Prayer is that kindling that sets forth grand flames and warms every portion of a body bitter and brittle from life’s defeat.
In the comfort of an unchanging God, we are reminded that prayer is our connection to the divine. On this day, this day that I am reminded of prayer’s gumption, I rejoice and proclaim that it is indeed a working effort.
